Egypt Country Profile Author Invited to Speak about Inclusive Business

Due to her work authoring Endeva’s Inclusive Business Country Profile on Egypt, Pascale Nader was invited to speak on the topic of Inclusive Business, specifically from the Egyptian context, at a recent event. The Cairo event was initiated by SIDA as part of their first round of Innovations Against Poverty (IAP) in Egypt, organized by Pricewaterhouse Coopers, and hosted by a local social entrepreneurship incubator called Nahdet El Mahrousa (NM).

Pascale reports that the audience was an enthusiastic mix of social entrepreneurs, young graduates, and professionals. She shared that some voiced strong comments on the authenticity of companies’ inclusive business models in Egypt. The insights the audience found most useful were: distinguishing inclusive business from philanthropy, reasons why companies go into inclusive business, as well as defining and debating “what is profit?”
