Donors will step up efforts to support inclusive business
The international policy forum „Inclusive Business and Effective Partnerships for Development“ convened more than 80 participants from the public sector, in particular donors, business, civil society and academia in Berlin on September 15th and 16th, 2011. Organized by the Development Policy Forum on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the Forum discussed two focal areas of German development cooperation: inclusive business – understood as business that includes people living in poverty and contributes to sustainable human development – and the role of the private sector in increasing aid effectiveness. Endeva supported the conceptual development of the program, facilitated the forum, and documented its results.
Participants agreed that the private sector was critical as a partner for development. Representatives of donors and other organizations exchanged experiences with regards to supporting inclusive business. It was clear that efforts to support this innovative approach to development would only increase.
